UPS has launched its largest Asia Pacific logistics hub in Taoyuan, Taiwan, aimed at boosting supply chain efficiency, productivity and global connectivity, reported Mumbai’s STAT Trade Times.
The Taoyuan International Logistics Center spans more than 81,000 square metres and more than doubles UPS’s warehouse footprint in Taiwan. Located five kilometres from Taoyuan International Airport, it connects to 22 weekly UPS flights, enabling faster regional and global distribution.
The facility is equipped with advanced automation, autonomous mobile robots and modern warehouse management systems. UPS said customer orders can now be processed around 40 per cent faster, with improved storage capacity and near-zero picking errors. The company has invested nearly US$100 million in the project.
Lauren Zhao, president of UPS Asia Pacific Supply Chain Solutions and Freight Forwarding, said businesses are seeking stronger supply chains, with Taiwan playing a key role in semiconductors and medical technology. Applied Materials is using the site as its Asia continental distribution centre.
Erix Yu, president of Applied Materials Taiwan, said the centre provides a scalable logistics foundation to support rising semiconductor demand. UPS added that the launch is part of ongoing investments in its Asia Pacific network, offering end-to-end logistics solutions and delivery services to more than 200 countries and territories.
