GEODIS, one of the world’s leading transport and logistics operators, has expanded its Italian road transport capabilities with the deployment of two new-generation CO₂ tankers engineered to advance safety, operational efficiency, and lower-carbon transport performance. The investment reinforces the Group’s long-standing commitment to reliable logistics solutions for the industrial gas sector.
Since 1 July, the two new tankers have entered service from GEODIS’ base at Cormano, supporting the transportation of industrial gases across Italy and Europe. The addition brings the company’s total CO₂ tanker fleet to 20 vehicles, extending the operational flexibility and service reliability available to customers. GEODIS has confirmed plans to continue modernizing and expanding its fleet in line with evolving market developments.
Advanced Safety Technologies
The new tankers integrate a comprehensive suite of safety systems designed to protect drivers, operators, and customers throughout transport operations:
- Anti-rollover systems that stabilize the vehicle during high-risk manoeuvres
- ABS/EBS braking systems for controlled, responsive stopping performance
- Automated semi-trailer braking during reverse manoeuvres near obstacles
- Automatic braking when the rear door is open during unloading
- Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) for continuous condition oversight
Together, these features raise the safety standard across every stage of the transport cycle.
Efficiency and Payload Gains
Equipped with new-generation rolling and cryogenic components, the tankers require reduced maintenance, increasing vehicle availability and overall operational efficiency. Their optimized design delivers higher payload capacity while lowering vehicle tare weight, enabling more product to be transported per journey. This translates into improved route efficiency, lower fuel consumption, and reduced carbon intensity — measurable advantages for shippers focused on cost control and dependable delivery.
